Communications

SACM communications support the Executive Leadership team and divisional staff by:

  • providing content strategy and storytelling for the division;
  • guiding communication strategies that support the divisional and university missions and visions and advance Student Affairs departmental priorities;
  • enhancing the visibility of UMBC Student Affairs on campus and beyond; and
  • serving as a liaison to University Communications and Marketing.

How We Serve Student Affairs Leadership and Staff

  • Brainstorming and advice/counsel on strategic planning, branding, campaigns, messaging, and media relations
  • Developing/writing/editing talking points and scripts for presentations, VIP visits, campus and external events, videos.
  • Copyediting and proofreading for print and digital publications or other projects
  • Providing divisional outlets for staff news on departmental and staff expertise, research, and achievements, including:
  • Sharing staff and news on departmental and staff expertise, research, and achievements with university communications office, university leadership, and campus partners, including:
  • Supporting response to media inquiries and assisting with media pitches on departmental and staff expertise, research, and achievements, including:
  • Supporting issues management and crisis response in partnership with University Communications and Marketing
  • Supporting assessment storytelling and fundraising communications
